ABOUT US

GRIDIRON

American Football is commonly referred to as gridiron in Australia to differentiate it from the other four codes of football. It has become a rapidly rising sport in south-east Queensland since 1985. Recent participation trends indicate that the growth of this high impact sport is about to explode.

The sport has a clean image and as such we are finding parents bringing their sons to be involved with our sport as an alternative to rugby league. The game has been played in South East Queensland for 25 years. The recent rate of expansion is exciting!

Clubs range in location from the Sunshine Coast to the Gold Coast and Capalaba to Toowoomba. Geographically speaking, we are located in the middle at Underwood Park, Rochedale South.

OUR TEAMS

Each club has a
Senior (opens - 18+) and a Junior (14-17 years) division.

As a not for profit sporting club, we rely heavily on our committee members and volunteers to assist with running home games and the administration of the club. Fundraising events such as Bunnings BBQs, Charitable Poker Nights, the canteen at home games and the various raffles throughout the year, assist the club in purchasing new equipment, uniforms and aids to reduce the pressure on club and registration fees.

Fees include:
  • Wildcats Membership
  • GQ Insurance
  • Free equipment usage (to be returned by the season end)
  • Awards Night
  • Wildcats Uniform (retained by you at season end)
  • Training and game fees
  • Wildcats Club Polo Shirt

A payment plan is available. Click onto the 'Contact Us' tab and provide some basic information for a Wildcats' staffer to get back to you with any further queries you may have about joining and associated fees.

Players are to provide their own boots (normal football/soccer boots provided that if metal studs they are not sharp or pointy), socks (royal blue - juniors; white - seniors) and mouth guard. Although we can supply mouth guards and additional equipment at extra cost. Further, second hand helmets and shoulder pads etc. can be purchased by players from the club and new helmets and shoulder pad etc. can be purchased via the club from Gridiron Queensland.
